planning a nc vacation visit ncPlanning a North Carolina Vacation must include choosing your scenery first. North Carolina's various terrains can suit so many tastes and vacation styles. The Appalachian mountains in the western part of the state offer winter sports, gem mining, cavern exploration, year-round hiking, and stunning foliage during the fall and winter. Antiquing, boutique, and exquisite work by local artists are attainable in the huge batch towns of Asheville and Blowing Rock. The town of Asheville is also home to the most significant home in the USA -- the Biltmore Estate. Once a private estate built by the Vanderbilt family, today Biltmore is a very well known Historic Landmark featuring impressive gardens, a winery, and a luxury inn. Towards the east, North Carolina is dotted with beach neighborhoods and barrier islands that give you a plethora of watersports, crabbing, bird seeing, shell hunting and of course, fishing. The city of Charlotte rests northwest of the North and South Carolina. The city provides a tiny skyline complete with theater, professional sports, and a wide-range of activities and hotels. Tourists head yearly to visit the National Whitewater Rafting Middle of the State, the world-class Charlotte Electric motor Speedway and NASCAR art gallery, and the Great Bad guy Lodge, an indoor wild water park. The famous Carowinds Roller Coaster Park lies just southwest of town. Just northwest and south of the location lie two large man-made lakes -- Lake Gary to the north and Lake Wylie to the South. Each is famous for boating, water and jet skiing, as well as fishing. For record buffs, the state's polished capitol of Raleigh offers an insight into North Carolina's Colonial and Civil Battle heritage. The state's background is well documented via displays housed in the North Carolina Museums, and naturalists will enjoy studying the state's ecosystems at the North Carolina Museum of Herbal Sciences.
